The Asian eyelid is different than the caucasian lid anatomically. There is an attachment of the skin to a muscle that creates the fold found in caucasians. Most Asians lack this attachment.  Dr. Sanders is able to create this attachment with tiny sutures and adjustments of the skin and muscle. He will spend a significant amount of time preoperatively discussing the procedure and will tailor the surgery so that your eyes look like you want them to. This is strictly a cosmetic procedure and does not affect the function of the eyelid.  To help him get an idea of the type of eyelid you want we suggest that you bring a photo of someone with eyes you would like as a goal.

This Asian Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure Dr. Sanders performs under IV sedation in the office surgical suite with no need for general anesthesia. There will be sutures in the eyelid skin for about 5 days but the appearance of the eyes will be improved immediately. Dr. Sanders is able to modify the procedure to attain a full caucasian eyelid or any variation of a combination asian/caucasian look so as to maintain some characteristics of the asian lid.
